Breastfeeding is the normal, natural way to feed our babies. A mother’s
milk is specially designed to meet the changing needs of her child—week
by week, month by month. When you're starting out, it's helpful to understand
what's normal, and to know how to identify potential problems in initiating
and establishing your breastfeeding relationship. Learn more about the art
and science of nursing your little one in this three-hour class. Under the
guidance of Nicole Reid, IBCLC, you'll learn about:
• Advantages of breastfeeding for both mom and baby
• How you can prepare for breastfeeding success
• What a good latch looks like, and how to achieve it
• What to expect from a breastfeeding newborn
• How to know if your baby is getting enough
• Common pitfalls, and how to avoid or address them
• Risks to consider when giving formula or other supplements
• Pumping and breastmilk storage guidelines
• How dads, partners and siblings can be involved
• Community resources you can access for support
Nicole brings a natural-minded focus to this class, which is geared toward
both moms and dads. Learn to separate myth from fact, and start your breastfeeding
journey feeling confident and strong. And when your baby is born, if you
have any questions, you'll have access to Nicole's expertise—every class
participant qualifies for a free 15-minute phone consult. We care about
moms and babies, and want to help you establish a strong, healthy breastfeeding
relationship.
